Foods classes offer nutrition information, food preparation techniques, and a foundation for careers in food services. Child Development classes include information for understanding family relationships, the growth and education of children, and well as careers involving children. The University of Connecticut Course, (Individual and Family Development HDFS190) is offered to juniors and seniors with a strong interest in human development and the impact of the family system on a person's development. State mandated graduation requirements necessitate that students take at least one credit in the arts, business & finance, family consumer sciences, or engineering and technology education.
