A 1946 Bristol High graduate, he made significant contributions to Bristol through his avid love of sports, especially the game of baseball.

A scholastic standout, he later pitched in the service, in college, with area teams and two seasons in the Boston Braves organization between 1949-1950.

A physical education teacher and coach, he served as a recreation director for the city for 20 years.
