Meegan Wright Martin was an All-American swimmer at Bristol Central High School and in college, at both the University of Miami and at Texas A & M. At Bristol Central, she was all-league, all­state and All-American between 1979-1981.

She set a host of individual state records for the Rams and was a USS swimmer in the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke, and 200 individual medley. She was Junior Olympic champion and record-breaker in 1980 in the 100 breaststroke while setting regional age group records.

She went on to set records in the 50, 100 and 200 yard breaststroke and 200 IM at both the University of Miami and Texas A & M. She was a member of the University of Miami squad when it won the conference title in 1981-82 and was on the Connecticut AAU Long Course All-Star team in 1980.

She returned to Bristol to take on coaching assignments with the Bristol Splash in the Bristol Parks & Recreational League, the Farmington Farms, and Bristol Eastern High School.
