Malcolm Huckaby began playing basketball at the Forestville Boys Club before moving on to Memorial Boulevard School and Bristol Central, where he obtained All-State honors and was a member of the Class L state championship team in 1990. That team was ranked among the top teams in the nation that year.  His 1,645 career points are the second highest total in Bristol Central history. Also a baseball player, he was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 1990 MLB draft.

He went on to play basketball for Boston College, where he helped lead the program to the NCAA Elite Eight in 1994. He was inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 2005 and was inducted into the ACC Class of 2015 Basketball Legends class. He played pro basketball abroad and was on the roster of the NBA’s Miami Heat in 1997. He began a college television career in 2010 and became an ESPN college basketball analyst in 2012.
