A lifelong Bristol resident, Tony played Little League baseball, basketball and baseball at St. Anthony's grammar school and soccer, basketball and baseball at both St. Anthony's and Bristol Central High schools, often times as a captain. He was named Central's senior class athlete in 1967

His coaching duties encompassed Bristol Parks & Rec. co-ed soccer and teams at Bristol Central, including JV"boys"soccer and most recently, the varsity girls soccer team. His"girls"teams went unbeaten at 16-0 in both 1999 and 2000 and he coached nine all-state and one all-New England players. He was named the CHSCA coach of the year in"girls"soccer in 2002 and in 2007 was named coach of the year by the CT Girls soccer coaches Association.

He had a combined 318-126-54 record in coaching boys JV and"girls"varsity soccer at Central. He was honored by the Bristol Tramps in 2006 as recipient of the Bill Garrett Award
