A 1990 graduate of Bristol Central, Strahowski was a member of the 1984 McCabe-Waters Little League Eastern Regional championship team that played in the Little League World Series. He ran four years of cross country and was team captain his senior season at Bristol Central, wrestled all four years and played for the varsity baseball team.
He continued to excel on the diamond at CCSU as a 4-year starter and left in the top 10 in single-season strikeouts twice. From there, he played professionally in the independent Northern League at the minor league level for five seasons (plus a stop in the Colombian Winter League), compiling five wins, four saves and 142 strikeouts across 171.2 innings in 117 relief appearances, and retired in 1999 after winning a championship with the A-C Diamond Dogs.
Strahowski coached several teams through the years, including East Granby High School (baseball) and Cheney Tech (wrestling), and finally, at Manchester Community College where he amassed 217 wins over 12 seasons with his teams winning four consecutive New England baseball crowns (2008-11). He was named JUCO New England Coach of the Year four times.
His MCC teams were ranked No. 3, 4, 6, and 8 nationally and in 2009 he was selected as Connecticut’s College Coach of the Year by the American Legion. He also played for the Bristol Nighthawks (New England Collegiate Baseball League) and Bristol Merchants (Greater Hartford Twilight League).
