John A. Couture, a Bristol educator, played baseball at McCabe-Waters Little League. He played soccer, basketball and baseball at Memorial Boulevard School before going on to play baseball, soccer and basketball at Bristol Central. He played for the Bristol American Legion baseball team and the Bristol team in the Hartford Twilight League.

He played four years of baseball at Amherst College and Independent minor league baseball where he also coached. He was an associate scout for the Houston Astros and spent 10 years as the mental skills coordinator for the Cleveland Indians. He also held that position with the Great Britain National Baseball Team.

He has coached 4 different varsity sports in high school and various other youth teams. Currently, he coaches an AAU baseball team in Bristol, is on the Board of Directors for Avon Little League, and conducts baseball clinics around the state.
