Basketball, Coach
He played basketball for Bristol Central and Marist College, graduating in 1978 and 1982, respectively.
He was all-conference in 1977 and 1978, honorable mention Class L All-State in 1977, and first team his senior year. He missed a year and a half of competition in high school due to injury, but tallied 750 points for his career with the Rams. His high school career scoring average was 15 points per game and in his final season averaged 23 points.
At Marist as a four-year starter, he totaled 1,037 points and this would lead him to two professional tryouts. Coaching was part of his sports career, doing so at different levels and that included for Bristol Eastern as an assistant in 1990 when they captured the Class L crown.
The 1998 Nutmeg Team he mentored captured the eighth-grade championship and the Up tempo AAU squad he was an assistant coach and won the state title and placed third nationally.
He worked summer basketball camps, including that of NBA Hall of Famers Calvin Murphy’s.
