Bristol Central High School

Hal Kilby began his career in sports as a manager and scorekeeper and went on to become a coach and benefactor of athletics in Bristol through his affiliation with the Bristol Boys Club. A graduate of Immanuel Lutheran School, Kilby became the manager of the Bristol Central football team in 1972 and served in that capacity for four years. While in high school he was scorekeeper in the Bristol Inter-Church Basketball league, the Bristol Boys Club High School League, and for the Bristol American Legion baseball team.

After graduating from Springfield College, Kilby returned to Bristol to teach at Bristol Central and Chippens Hill Middle School. He served as an assistant coach for the Bristol American Legion’s World Series team of 1984 and went on to serve five years as head coach of the Legion team. He also coached tennis, girls’ basketball, and freshman football at Bristol Central as well as a number of teams at Chippens Hill Middle School.

The Bristol Boys Club Boy of the Year in 1976, he has remained active in the Boys Club throughout his adult life, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bristol Boys and Girls Club, he continues to make a positive impact on the youth of Bristol.
